On the way to work this morning, a colleague mentioned the haze in Malaysia was getting worse. I was dismayed when I heard this as I had hoped that during my one week trip to Dubai the haze in Malaysia would have dissipated. Today's The STAR newspaper said the haze may continue until October.
I have said enough about our bad neighbour, Indonesian (see Indonesia apologises) who are unable to enforce their owns laws and prevent the unlawful burning. Back in 1998 when the haze started and when the original Far Eastern Economi Review was published, they reported the Indonesian authority had only managed to bring to court one offender. I was quite aghast at the incompetence of the Indonesian authorities about this result.
I am returning to Malaysia tomorrow and have to look forward on how to train during this haze.
I have no choice but to run on the treadmill. I have always found running on a treadmill mentally difficult. The farthest distance I have run on a treadmill is 12 km. Normally I only manage 6 to 8 km before giving up due to boredom. Last night I managed to run 8 km at 11,5 km/hr. Somehow, Pm19 is able to run 15 km on a treadmill.
Today it is hazy too in Dubai because of the concentrated dust in the air but it is purely sand and not hazardous substances produced from burning.
