I fulfilled my desire to run outdoor this evening at KLCC park. The sky was a bit cloudy but it didn't look as if the rain will fall.
During lunch, I had the pleasure of Yong's company. We ate the same thing, Pattaya Fried Rice. For those not familiar with this dish, it is a fried rice wrapped in omelette. I am not sure who coined the Pattaya namesake for this dish. I have been to Pattaya before but have never come across it. Perhaps the recipe inventor had visited Pattaya very often. Or maybe on his first visit to Pattaya, the place made a powerful and unforgettable impression on him. I referred to the male gender as the place is (in)famous for its nightlife.
Anyway the problem with the fried rice was there was too much of it. By the time, I finished I was completely stuffed. I noticed food servings in Malaysia have become larger. There are now Giant sized curry puffs and just think about when you eat rice at a mamak (Indian Muslim) restaurant. Don't they pile up the rice and dishes? The larger serving size is an unwelcomed trend as it is likely to lead to higher rates of obesity. In the US, the food serving sizes have generally doubled. The original paper is available here.
As I was stretching , Steven and Josie ran past. They signalled for me to join them but I was waiting for Yong. I joined Yong as he was about to start on his third lap. I felt sluggish because of the heavy lunch. We ran this lap at 7 min 20 seconds.
We ran the second lap was much faster;6 min. 50 seconds. The third was even crazier; 6 min 40 seconds. We were really pouring on the speed. We were running very hard.
Yong stopped after his 5th lap. I continued running another 3 laps (3.9 km) but at a much slower speed.
It was an tiring run but after finishing it , I felt great. But tomorrow I will have to run slower.
