Addicted

Definition of an Addict:-
Someone who is physiologically dependent on a substance; abrupt deprivation of the substance produces withdrawal symptoms

Today, as I went down the lift at 12.30 pm, a short, plump Chinese guy was standing near the door. He held a unlit cigarette in his right fingers. Ocassionally,he tapped the filter end to his hand a few times. (I am not sure why smokers do this). In his left hand he held a cheap plastic cigarette lighter. I could tell that he just could not wait to start smoking.

On another occasion, in a bus I saw a guy seated across the aisle. Throughout the 30 minutes, he kept an unlighted cigarette in his mouth. A lighter was held ready in his hand. Sometimes he would take out the cigarette only to put it back later. He fidgeted a lot. When he got down at a bus stop, he immediately lighted the cigarette. Must have been agonising for him to wait 30 minutes for smoke.

Doesn't these 2 stories perfectly describe an addict ?
