I take the LRT to work every day and every day there will be beggars near the LRT stations. I see the same indivividual to the last details. So to let me introduce them to this blog's readers. Here is the line-up :-
At KLCC LRT station:-
A tall thin man dark skin wearing a kopiah (skull cap) stands erect holding a box. Technique:
Pasted to the box is a sign board that says:
Former Army staff
Chronic patient
Suffering from Tubercolosis, Asthma, Diabetes and Kidney failure
Please donate and god will bless you!
Usually wears a "Baju Melayu" (Malay suit) , either white or green colour.
This afternoon at 1.00 pm , he was at Ampang Park LRT station.
At Central Market:
Begg#1: Chinese man, late 20's tanned skin. Wears a collared T-shirt and shorts.
Technique: Sits on the ground, cross legged, make sounds as if mentally disabled (Autistic ?). Head cocked to one side while making sounds. Holds a paper cup for the donations. Also makes eye contact.
Has trouble walking, one legs is skeletal.
Begg#2 : Chinese man, lates 30's . Fair skin and dischevelled looking. Wears and old filthy T-shirt and shorts. Missing one leg so he usually stands supported by crutches. Smells bad.
Technique : No specific techique employed but wears a bored and hard-up expresssion on his face. Hold a plastic cup.
Begg#3 : Malay man, mid 30's . Thin with long hair, tanned skin. Wears a baju melayu and sarong. Missing one leg.
Technique: sits on the ground on newspaper, hold paper cup. Silent and has belligerent expression.
Begg#4 Indian man,late 50's . Bald with white hair. Wears a short sleeve shirt and pants. Technique : Sits on the grounds, asks for donation and a "minta kesian" (Pitiful) expression. Hands cupped and raised while asking for donation.
Occasionally crashes out near the stairs or lift in drunken state.
Note Begg#2 and #3 sometimes argue with each other as both are stationed themselves at the bottom of escalator.
The weather is good today so I will be running at KLCC park.
